The launch event of Catalyst, a new £1.9M EPSRC funded project, which will investigate the role of digital technologies in enabling community-driven social innovation.

Catalyst will address two core themes that will maximize the opportunities for citizens to transform society: understanding behaviour (what stimulates people to participate and why) and tools for change (what next-generation technologies best support how people want to innovate).

The project is organized as a series of research mini-projects; each one will work with a different community group to develop and trial new technologies that tackle real issues.

The project starts on November 1st and the launch event is the first chance for community representatives and academics to start to shape the direction of the project and to learn about opportunities to get involved.

The launch will be held at Lancaster University on Tuesday 22nd November from 4-7pm. The format will consist of a brief overview of the project, including opportunities to get involved, followed by break-out groups which will discuss key issues. The evening will end with a chance to network over refreshments.
